IASC Seafood Ltd Ireland engaged Richy V to identify a target market in the London Markets for a Seafood Unami Enriched Cooking fat.

Richys Mauritian family background gave iASC a deep knowledge based cultural approach to the understanding of the target market.

We identified the market for this product, largely due to the numbers that Seafood is a prominent Weekly feature in the targeted demographic diet.

We learned that the target market choose less common species on a minimum of three purchases per week and that our product Assisted in the flavor development of the finished meals by reducing salt and using natural Seafood additives and Unami derived from shellfish and specific seaweeds.

RV identified the ideal distribution chains, created a Natural Buzz and approach about the product and his visual representation allowed us to be identified

As an ideal accompanied condiment within the target market shopping trolley

RV completed show and tell events and used social and visual media to promote our product range.

BIM’s Seafood development centre (Recently rebranded to: Seafood innovation Hub) is a centre for the Irish Seafood industry to develop innovation products and to bring them to scale. It includes product processing facilities, product development kitchen, innovation and product concept areas and business incubation units. The aim of the centre is to produce high quality processes and product services to support the development of innovation in the seafood sector and enable the commercialisation of product ideas form the sector. The centre is recognised in Ireland and in Europe as a leader in seafood innovation developing all processes for seafood product development and pushing the boundaries within the industry.

Richy worked with the centre on a consultancy basis as required in order to develop a number of innovative ideas and to help companies with the commercialisation of the products.

Examples of successful to the market products which Richy worked on included value addition to herring. Company name is silver darlings. Development of products for a variety of companies in order to make use of materials not usually utilised such as as fish trimmings.

Development of innovative ideas in order to use less used species and products. One successful product was seaweed butter. Richy has a good understanding of the cost restrictions that impact on small companies looking at developing and scaling products. As well as knowing, the best way to get taste and the running of tasting sessions and product acceptability, he also has a keen understanding of the importance of shelf life and shelf life testing for products.

I would highly recommend Richy for a role in seafood innovation. As well as the skills in seafood product development and commercialisation, he is an excellent team member, very easy to work and get along with, extremely reliable and very innovative.

Clonakilty Food Co. hired Richy Virahsawmy to showcase Clonakilty Blackpudding at the National Ploughing Championships, the brief was to demonstrate to 100,000 people over 3 days that Clonakilty Blackpudding is NOT just for breakfast.

We also used Richy at the Taste of Dublin Food Festival. Again, he showcased the versatility of Clonakilty Blackpudding & how it can be used as an ingredient in a variety of dishes devised by him.

We found his professionalism & execution doing live stage demos on the hour every hour for three days really helped to get our brand out there! We were very thankful to Richy & his team. Richys’ relentless work ethic, enthusiasm & energy always contribute to his success as a Brand Ambassador.
